Freshwater fields was the place to be on Saturday afternoon with two back to back Manly matches - where we triumphed on beating last years records in the first round!
With 10 new players in Div 1 and 6 in Div 2 , no training and having never played together - it could have prooved interesting. Infact it did for the first 5-10 minutes with Avalon scoring early in the game. We then started to gel and once half of us adjusted to playing on grass, not turf there were some good runs up both sides of the field and we even popped away 2 goals, one in each half - this was unheard of in 2008!
Thank you to the girls from Div 2 staying behind to be our cheer squad - looks like grass hockey could really be truly social this year!
Goal scorers this week were Nicole Reece and Cathy Barrett (you legend!).
