With great weather, great beaches, 45 mins from the city centre by public transport and if you enjoy playing hockey, Manly-Warringah District hockey club provides a great way to quickly meet some people to socialize with, and give you a way to settle in quickly into a social life living abroad.
Manly-Warringah is basically the Northern Beaches of Sydney, it is governed by two seperate Councils, Manly Council, and Warringah Council.

About Playing Hockey for Manly-Warringah
Manly Hockey is a hockey club with a great atmosphere; we offer levels of hockey from social to competitive in both indoor and outdoor, and also a Mens Over 40’s mid-week team.
We have women's and mens teams, as well as mixed social teams in the off season.
We also have a junior club with hockey from ages 7-18, so if you have kids there is a spot for them too.
Whilst playing hockey in Sydney usually means a little bit of a drive (30mins approx), you will not necessarily need a car as you will be able to get lifts to games from local players.

The social scene with Manly hockey club
We organise various social events during the year ranging from dinner and drinks, exhibition matches (such as our annual Australia vs Rest of the World match in December), pub crawls, presentation nights, trivia nights, group trips out to watch the Rugby/Football etc.
After games we often also hit the pubs in Manly to celebrate wins, or wallow in self-pity over losses (hopefully not as often)
